This Privacy Policy explains how Save A Bite collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our mobile app or website. By using Save A Bite, you consent to the practices described below.
Information We Collect
Save A Bite collects the following types of data about users:
- Personal Information: We collect information that can identify you, such as your name, email address, phone number, and shipping or billing address. For business users, we also collect your business name, business address, and tax identification if needed.
- Account and Profile Data: This includes your username, password (encrypted), profile photo, and any content you post (e.g., ratings, reviews, or comments).
- Payment Information: We collect payment details (such as credit/debit card information) that you provide to our payment processor (Stripe) when you make a purchase. Save A Bite itself does not store full payment card details; the processor stores that information securely.
- Location Data: With your consent, Save A Bite may collect GPS or other location data from your mobile device to show nearby mystery boxes or restaurants. We also use Google Maps data for location services.
- Usage Data: We automatically collect information about how you use the app, such as search queries, the pages or sections you view, and your interactions with the platform. We may also collect device information (IP address, device type, operating system, and browser) and log data when you use the platform.
- Communications: We collect information you provide when you contact us or respond to our emails, such as feedback or support requests.
How We Use Your Information
We use the data we collect for various purposes, including:
- To operate, maintain, and improve the Save A Bite platform. This includes processing transactions, sending order confirmations, and providing customer support.
- To personalize your experience (for example, showing relevant mystery boxes or promotions).
- To communicate with you about your account, purchases, or updates to our terms and policies. We may send you transactional emails (e.g. receipts, account notices) and, if you opt in, marketing communications.
- To analyze usage trends and improve our service. We may use analytics tools to better understand user behavior and platform performance.
- To comply with legal obligations or protect the rights and safety of Save A Bite, our users, and others.
Save A Bite will not rent or sell your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes without your explicit consent.
Third-Party Services
We work with third-party services that may have access to your information under our direction. These include:
- Stripe: We use Stripe to process payments. Stripe collects and processes your payment information securely; refer to Stripe’s Privacy Policy for details.
- Google Maps: We use Google Maps API to display restaurant locations and pickup directions. Google may collect your location and request data. See Google’s Privacy Policy for more information.
- Mailgun (or similar email service): We use a third-party email service to send transactional and marketing emails. This provider only uses your information to perform email delivery on our behalf.
These third-party providers have their own privacy policies. We ensure they comply with applicable data protection standards.
Data Security
We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information. However, no online service is 100% secure. You use Save A Bite at your own risk, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights (Data Protection Rights)
Depending on applicable laws (such as Hawaii’s consumer data protection laws, California’s CCPA/CPRA, or others), you may have rights regarding your personal information. These may include:
- Access: You can request the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction/Update: You can request that we correct or update inaccurate or incomplete personal information.• Deletion: You can ask us to delete your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions.
- Opt-Out: You can opt out of receiving marketing communications by following the unsubscribe instructions in our emails or contacting us. You may also opt out of certain data processing practices (e.g., targeted advertising) where applicable.
- Data Portability: Where applicable, you can request a copy of your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Restrict or Object: You can request that we restrict or object to certain types of data processing.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at admin@saveabite.us. We will respond in accordance with applicable law. Please note that some rights may not apply if certain exemptions are met (for example, if deleting data would prevent us from fulfilling a contract or complying with law).
If you are a California resident, you also have the right to know whether we “sell” or share your personal information and to opt out of such sale/sharing (Save A Bite does not sell personal information in exchange for money). You have the right to equal service and pricing even if you exercise your privacy rights.
Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described above or as required by law. If you delete your account or request erasure, we will delete or anonymize your personal data unless we have a legitimate reason to keep it (such as for legal compliance or dispute resolution).
Children's Privacy
Save A Bite is not directed to children under 16 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn we have inadvertently collected data from a child, we will delete it.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Significant changes will be communicated to you via the platform or email.
